Dear Friend,
About six weeks ago, my eighteen-year old daughter was involved in a car accident which took her life. She survived the accident with minimal injuries, but not the fire which quickly engulfed the car. She died as a result of smoke inhalation thermal burns. Her close friend and driver of the car was also killed.
I have been trying to think of a way to memorialize her life. I cannot paint, sing, or dance, but I have been told I have a talent for writing, and so I decided to write this book.
People will tell you that mourning is different for everyone and that is true, but I felt as though I had to give myself permission to do things. Mourning is really a solitary experience even though we may do it in the midst of a crowd.
I hope what I have written helps you to begin to mourn and by doing so, begin to live your life again. I have tried to write honestly about my own experience in dealing with the death of my beautiful daughter, Amanda.
...Amanda, we love you and will hold you in our hearts forever...
I wish you healing for your broken heart. I will pray for you and hope you will pray for me.
                                                Sincerely,
                                                Carol
